National Government Agenda For Laikipia County (Big4)

It’s a new dawn for the residents of Laikipia County after the National Government promised mega projects in agriculture, health and infrastructure for development of our county.

During his visit to Laikipia, deputy president William Ruto pledged that the government has set aside money for construction of roads both in urban areas and in rural areas.

Among the major roads to be constructed include Rumuruti-Nanyuki , Naibor-Doldol, Ngenia-Mwiriri, Narumoru through Ngareng’iro to Ngobit, Rumuruti through Mugie Ranch to Maralal , Withare through Gatimu to Kihara and Rumuruti-Sipili.

He also promised to facilitate construction of feeder roads within the Nanyuki town, Likii and Manjengo through the Kenya Urban-Rural Roads Authority.

The DP was in company of Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa and his Agriculture counterpart Mwangi Kiunjuri and other Mount Kenya leaders and Laikipia leaders led by Governor Ndiritu Muriithi and his Deputy John Mwaniki, Senator John Kinyua, women rep Catherine Waruguru, MPs, CECs and MCAs.

His Excellency the deputy president also pledged that national government would provide equipment to the county hospitals.

Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital will benefit with a CT scan machine worth Sh150, 000Million which he said would be delivered and installed within four months.

As the county embarks on drive for registration into NHIF, Ruto pledged that the government would fund enrollment of10, 000 households into the medical fund. The number of the enrolled will increase from the current ……….that represents ………per cent.

The households will be identified with help of the ward representatives to ensure needy and vulnerable ones benefit from the government’s support.

Laikipia County is also set to benefit with water projects after the national government pledged to fund construction of 300 small dams across the county in line with the president’s Big Four Agenda to ensure food security.

Water supply will see farmers in Laikipia invest in agribusiness to improve their livelihoods without relying on irregular rain water.

The government shall also provide 25 milk cooling plants with the DP saying that five have already been delivered and ready for installation and the others to be delivered in the next financial year.

The plants will ensure livestock farmers don’t incur losses and save them from unscrupulous brokers.

Residents shall also benefit through Rural electrification as the government set aside Sh600 million that will see 15,000 households connected.

Squatters in Likii, Majengo, Nyahururu and Kanyoni are also set to get title deeds. Ruto announced that 50 surveyors would be sent to take up the exercise.
