Amaya Triangle Initiative Consultations
Yesterday, in Nairobi at the Panafric Hotel, with the support of UNDP and other National Government agencies, the conversation on the Amaya Triangle Initiative continued.
The focus of this consultation was mainly between Parliamentarians and National Government security and administration agencies.
I take this opportunity to thank all the members drawn form the National Government, constitutional offices, Senators, Members of Parliament, Women Representative, Deputy Governor’s and Governor who attended.
The central theme of the conversation was on peace, security and development for our people in the 4 counties of Baringo, Samburu, Isiolo and Laikipia that make up the Amaya Triangle Initiative.
The resolutions reached, continue to be an important pillar of our work as the region’s leadership to ensure peace and security for us to attain our collective economic outcomes for our people.
A major thinking around how to modernize the Agro-pastoral economy continues to be a key focus of this engagement.
The robust engagement between the political leadership and the National Government agencies present and the commitments to continued partnerships is a testimony to the progress we are making in this regard.
Public participation is key to the realization of this agenda. A consultation for the Members of the County Assemblies is lined up in the next week. So are county specific internal leadership consultations that will program the roll out of continued public engagement.
I am delighted to be part of this generation of the leadership in our region that is committed to giving a fresh and new impetus to our region’s socio-economic-political transformation.
Many thanks to the partners who supported yesterday’s consultation and particularly their commitment to support future ones.
More thanks to my colleague, Governor Kiptis for chairing and steering the process to the end.
