County Staff Meetings

This morning we held our quarterly staff meetings starting with our sub county of Laikipia North in Dol Dol.

I must congratulate the public service of Laikipia County for the continued improvement in building a performance based culture.

In the coming quarter, we shall continue with the roll out of the County Management System (COMs), the Results Based Matrix process and the Staff Performance Appraisal process. These are the key pillars that we have put in place as we seek to build a credible, accountable and performance based public service for our great county.

Alongside the Staff Meeting, we are having our Spot Awards presentation. These awards seek to reward staff who have shown exemplary performance, creativity and innovation in the due conduct of their work.

At Dol Dol today, the Spot Award was presented to Ms. Sinino Abdullahi Mohammed. A Registered Nurse from Mukogodo West, Kimanjo Sub-County Hospital.

Fellow Citizens of Laikipia, here is her citation, that got her a standing ovation, reproduced in full.

“A Standard 8 mother delivered at home and hid the child in the grass to avoid shame and ridicule from relatives and the community.

When Ms. Sinino got wind of this, she rushed to the site and rescued the child who was hypothermic, had low breath and cyanosis. The child was treated for neonatal sepis and retained in the incubator for 2 weeks. The healthy baby was released to the family.

Ms. Sinino has previously delivered Nevirapine syrups on a boda boda on a weekly basis to two (2) babies whose mothers are HIV positive and not on treatment.

She has conducted counseling and Direct Observation Treatment (DOT). The two (2) exposed infants are seronegative courtesy of the officers intervention, commitment and care.”

As Governor, acts of kindness like this reinforce my faith in humanity and the conviction that we have a real and able public service that will transform Laikipia into the greatest county with the best quality of life to live in.

As always, a good thing, can always be made better.
