Over 300 Laikipia Professionals Commit To Improve Education In The County

Over 300 Laikipia professionals on Friday 23rd November 2018, held a consultative session with the county leadership in Nairobi with an aim of having them participate in improving state of education across the come.
The thrust of the forum was to have the professionals give back to their county by nurturing students and pupils in the schools that afforded them the gift of education.
Speaking at the meeting, H.E Governor Ndiritu Muriithi urged the professionals to actively participate in their county affairs especially in improving education noting that education is the engine that will see Laikipia prosper.
The professionals admitted that there is gap between the privileged professionals outside Laikipia and their relationship with their County and they committed to reorganize themselves and come back to help build their County.
Similar forums will be held in Nanyuki, Nyahururu and Rumuruti. The Professionals also picked sub-county teams from among themselves to spearhead reforms in the education in their respective areas.
Deputy Governor H.E John Mwaniki reiterated the need for them to also invest in Laikipia assuring them that the county will afford them conducive working environment.
With the County being in the final stages of establishing a University Campus in Nanyuki and also up scaling the equipping and establishment of technical colleges for high school graduates to ensure a 100 percent transition from secondary to college, CEC Education, Madam Tabitha Mbiriri told the forum that the County is partnering with National Government to realize this promise especially for University Campus establishment in Nanyuki by end of this year.
Also attending the forum was county speaker Patrick Waigwa, PSC chairman Stephen Kerogo, Laikipia University VC Prof. Rotich, among other leaders.
During the meeting Kaiti primary school alumni stood out as very active association giving back to the community that nurtured it.
