Dr. Fred Matiangi 's Visit In Laikipia

The Cabinet Secretary Interior and Coordination of National Government, Dr. Fred Matiangi visited Laikipia and held a consultative meeting with the County leadership.
In attendance were the Cabinet Secretary Agriculture, Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, outgoing Inspector General of Police, Laikipia County Commissioner, Senator Laikipia County, Laikipia North MP, Laikipia Women Representative , County Assembly Speaker, , MCAs and CEC Administration.
The deliberations heavily majored on security where the following was agreed:
First,Nyahururu police station will be under the command of Laikipia County Police Commander unlike previously where it was under the Nyandarua Command.
On matters of Kenya Police Reservists, leaders present appreciated the great and selfless work done by the reservists, but to properly manage the service, and align it to the new regional security organs,it was agreed that all the NPRs will be vetted and registered afresh in two weeks time.
Nanyuki was recognized as a tourism town where local and foreign tourists flock and therefore the need to upscale its security surveillance. The CS therefore committed to have Anti-terror Police Unit posted in Laikipia.
On transport issue regarding Sientas and Probox ferrying passengers, it was agreed that they will only operate on the feeder roads and strictly not on the highway. The County Government was requested to designate dropping zone a matter that is already complete.
Lastly in regard to the issue of Boda boda operators, the CS noted that of the 4,000 operators in Laikipia, only 45% have complied with NTSA regulations. The sector operators are reminded of the set deadline of May for full compliance.
