Primary Research Data For Policy Making

Laikipia County government has launched a research that will see primary data collected inform policy-making and subsequent resource allocation.
H. E the Governor Ndiritu Muriithi said his administration would use county personnel to collect the data on agriculture, tourism, health, manufacturing among other sectors.
We have discovered that there is little information on say why people choose to go for treatment in hospitals located far from where they live yet there are centres where their problems would be sorted out, he said last Friday when he met a team of researchers.
He said preliminary findings had shown that there was disproportionate investment in diseases such as diabetes and the approved list of drugs that government hospitals buy does not also include medicine for arthritis.
We want to be at the forefront in championing decision making based on primary research and not rely on secondary data, he said.
