New Nanyuki Tuskys Branch Will Create Jobs, Spice Up Trade

Nanyuki, Laikipia, 12th November 2019.............Tuskys Supermarkets today opened its doors to customers in and around Nanyuki town as Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, Members of the County Assembly led by the Speaker and the public welcomed them with open arms.
The opening of the retail outlet opens yet another business frontier for local suppliers of fresh and processed goods, who are set to benefit from doing business with Tuskys in the new spirit of going local. The retailer, which stocks Laikipia beef in all its outlets in Kenya, will have eggs, vegetables, meat and other commodities sourced directly from local producers.
The establishment of the retail outlet adds to the positive momentum of investments in Laikipia, thanks to the continued effort by the County Government to create a robust environment for commerce to flourish. The entry of Tuskys comes with a basket of goodies- 60 people have been employed directly, with the prospect of even more jobs. The retail giant was considerate enough to absorb 45 employees whose jobs were on the line following the exit of Choppies Supermarket, the previous tenant of Nanyuki Mall
In the spirit of working with local communities, the supermarket has allocated space for products of the various SMEs being nurtured under the Laikipia Innovation Programme.
Speaker of the County Assembly of Laikipia Patrick Waigwa encouraged the Tuskys Supermarket to reach out to the suppliers on trainings on safe food production. Leader of Majority Peter Thomi praised the development, saying indeed Laikipia is on the move.
The Nanyuki outlet, which becomes the 60th branch in Kenya, will serve the greater northern Kenya regions of Isiolo, Marsabit, Moyale and other areas in the vast north. The branch is set to create more jobs as it explores innovation to incentivize customer support. Daniel Koech, who is in charge of Marketing and New Emerging Business at Tuskys, disclosed that they will venture into online shopping, an area with vast opportunities for Laikipians to venture in as more people customers opt to shop at the comfort of their homes.
Tuskys Supermarket comes with exciting offers for shoppers, as they respond to a survey they conducted and found out goods in Nanyuki to be overpriced, in addition to the existing retailers lacking stocks on numerous commodities.
We are brining fair pricing and we want the people of Laikipia to enjoy shopping experience like our customers in the entire country, said Tuskys C.E.O Dan Githua.
The supermarket is also working towards listing Laikipia products in all the 60 outlets, providing a platform for the 30 products from Laikipia innovators which have already been certified Kenya Bureau of Statistics and other government regulatory bodies.
Tuskys is exploring franchises to broaden reach to customers in smaller towns where small scale traders are able to use the Tuskys brand.
