COUNTY COVID 19 ASSESSMENT ON RESPONSE PREPAREDNESS BY NG MINISTRY OF HEALTH

  0
The County Department of Health has this week hosted a team from the NG-Ministry of Health that was in the county to evaluate on the level of preparedness against Covid-19 and also identify areas of support that the county may be having.
The Assessment team first had a courtesy call with the CEC-Health, CO-Health and the CHMTs members before embarking on a tour of the facilities identified for use during the Covid 19 Pandemic containment and control measures. They were able to look at our Critical Care Unit at NTRH, the Isolation and Quarantine Unit at the ASK showground, the IPC measures put in place at the facilities and also toured the County Communication Command Centre where they were very impressed with the operations at the Centre.
In their debrief report, the team lauded the County Governments efforts in ensuring the county is optimally prepared for the pandemic noting that all the aspects of control from Coordination mechanisms, Community Awareness and Communication, Infection Prevention Control, Laboratory, Epidemiological Surveillance, Case Management and Logistics were adequately addressed.
The National Team took time to train the County Health Managers on Incidence Command System, Rapid Response activities, Contacts Tracing and Data Management. During the training issues of social distancing, hand hygiene and consistent and appropriate use of facemasks were strictly observed.
The Department of Health wishes to remind all the Laikipia citizens that even though all these measures have been put in place, the war on the pandemic shall only be won through the collaborative actions of the Government and its citizens. It is therefore each citizens individual responsibility to obey and practice the simple-to-do prevention measures on regular hand washing with soap and running water, use of hand sanitizers, observing cough etiquette, appropriate use of face masks, maintaining social distancing, and staying at home wherever possible.
For any further clarifications and reporting on incidences, the following County Covid -19 Communication Centre phone numbers may be used.
