Staff Rationalization To Identify, Plug Human Resource Gaps

  0
The journey to staff rationalization started with the initial steps of establishing the composition of the public service. This is what led to the first ever staffs audit that sought to assess the number of personnel, the skills set as well as the gaps in the public service.
The audit, conducted in 2019, shone the light on areas of improvement that the government has since focused on.
Following the assessment, 257 officers were found to have no basic training in ICT. The government has since facilitated the training of 120 officers on computer literacy programmes. The programme was made possible through partnership with the Communications Authority of Kenya.
Thanks to the review on staffing, the government has sponsored tens of staff to complete their primary and secondary education.
The government, keen to streamline the civil service, let go of 176 officers due to redundancy as they were not meaningfully engaged. Their roles had been overtaken by technological events, or were no longer relevant.
A number of staff, keen to advance their skills in the spirit of self development, are currently enrolled on self sponsored programmes at various tertiary education institutions.
