TIVET IN LAIKIPIA
1. LAIKIPIA EAST TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL COLLEGE
It is one of the three technical training Institutes initiated by the Government of Laikipia recently. It is located at Marina trading centre in Ngobi ward. It is specializing in electrical engineering and computers. The institute offers Diploma and Certificate courses in at least 10 disciplines and is targeting students with an aptitude for technical training who miss out on university vacancies and those who want to continue with their technical training from vocational training institutes (formerly known as polytechnics).
2. LAIKIPIA NORTH TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL COLLEGE
The Laikipia North Technical and Vocational College is the second college registered in the county in 2018 after Laikipia East Technical and Vocational College. It is located at Mowuarak in Laikipia North Constituency on your way from Rumuruti to Maralal. Its specializing in Mechanical Engineering.
Over 2, 000 students are set to join the technical and vocational colleges in Laikipia County. The two colleges were supposed to admit the first group by March while the third college.
The opening of the college, which is the first major institution in the region, will boost economy of Laikipia North due to the expected student population.
LAIKIPIA WEST TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL COLLEGE
Located in Muhotetu, the institute is under construction and will open soon. Kiirua Polytechnic in Meru County is its mentor institution. The Laikipia West Technical and Vocational College situated in Kabage in Laikipia West is under construction.
KENYA MEDICAL TRAINING COLLEGE
KMTC Nyahururu campus was established in May 2016 as an initiative of the Nyahururu county referral hospital administration and the KMTC Board of Management. The campus was started with an objective of addressing the current critical staffing shortage in the health facilities in the county. It is located at Nyahururu County Referral hospital-Laikipia County.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTES
There are ten public vocational institutes in Laikipia which offer a variety of courses to students with an aptitude for technical field. In its plan to increase enrolment and change societys focus on these institutions, the county government offers Shs8,000 bursary to every student from who joins a technical institute.
