Turkana Benchmarks With Laikipia On Revenue Collection

Turkana County has become the recent among other counties to benchmark with Laikipia on revenue collection.
Led by the CEC in charge of Finance and Economic Planning Emathe Namuar, Turkan County top revenue officias on Tuesday December 8, 2020 visited to learn on the uniqueness in Laikipia County Revenue Board.
In the 2018/2019 financial year, the board collected Kshs. 815million on behalf of the county government up from 468 million before Governor Ndiritu Muriithis administration took office. The target for this year is Ksh. 1 billion.
Turkana joins the series of Meru, Nakuru, Makueni and Kiambu counties to come on a learning exercise on the secrets to better strategies for better revenue collection.
During the visit, the delegates gathered from Laikipia the need for reforms within the organization for better performance. Also, there is need for staff appraisals and contracting based on performance.
There is also a responsibility for the government to demonstrate to the citizens the fruits of their taxation through various developments as witnessed in Laikipia County.
The delegation went back delighted with new knowledge that will enable Turkana County surpass its estimated revenue collection.
The numerous visits from various counties is an indication of the improved performance in Laikipia as one can only learn from the best performers.
