Laikipia County Statistical Abstract 2021 Is Out

The Laikipia County Statistical Abstract, 2021 is out. In partnership with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), the county has consistently been producing statistical abstract which contains all the economic, demographics, and social sets within the county.

  

The County Statistical Abstract 2021 has incorporated new parameters that will help policy-makers with readily available data concerning Laikipia. The newly covered areas are: Labor and employment statistics, Integrated County Operations Management System (ICOMS), Laikipia Innovation and Enterprise Development (LIEDP), the area under irrigation, households with access to water and sanitation, outpatient department (OPD) attendance statistics by the facility.

  

Others are total electricity consumption by type of consumers, prescription by morbidity by facility, and huduma center customer statistics by services sought. The statistical abstract is essential for utilization by planners, economists, academics who seek out data for diverse use as they will have a deeper understanding of Laikipia's economy. The data is also essential as it gives a clear outlook of Laikipia's economy by measuring the performance for the last year. The abstract gives priorities to sectors such as manufacturing, innovation, and water for production which are seen to revolutionize the economy of the county.

  

Other areas it covers are agriculture, money and banking, tourism, and livestock.

  

We intend to bring together economic, demographic, and social parameters in Laikipia into one single publication. Mr. Charles Nderitu, director of Economic Planning said.

  

The abstract brings transparency into the county operations and hiring process by giving details of employees working in the county. The Integrated County Operations Management System (ICOMS) contains data of employees on details such as staff claims, leave applications, timesheets, work plans, project administration, and enterprise development. The county has been implementing reforms in the public service that will streamline services to make it efficient to deliver the mandate to Laikipia.

  

We understand the value of data and statistics in policymaking. It will provide one single-source data set and source of credible and authentic information on the performance of different economic sectors in Laikipia. Mr. Nderitu said. The statistical abstract will help investors to use the data available to ensure they prioritize investments and determine the allocation of resources to various sectors of the economy. The abstract is creating a one-stop-shop for our businessmen and citizens as it forms a decision tool for investment decision-making. Deputy Governor John Mwaniki said. Partners praised the county for the huge milestone it has taken in the publication of a statistical abstract each year.

  

We are glad as the work by the Laikipia county is commendable to produce statistical abstract of 2021, we have always pointed out Laikipia as a benchmark county that others can follow and learn from. Sarah Omache from KNBS said.

  

Laikipia is the only county that has individually participated in the credit rating process in Kenya. Managing Director Global Credit Rating Sylvia Chahonyo said.
