For the first time in the history of the County Government of Laikipia, the annual revenue collection for the Laikipia County Revenue Board(LCRB), has surpassed the 900 million mark, defying the difficult economic environment.

The Board recorded a monumental collection of Kshs. 903 million for the financial year 2021/2022 surpassing its previous year revenue collection by Kshs. 63 million.

The cumulative revenue has doubled comparing to the revenue performance in the last seven years from Kshs. 482,151,083 million in FY 2015/2016 to Kshs. 903,887,923 million in the FY 2021/2022. This represents a growth of 87%.

The journey to success mirrors to improved compliance by the taxpayers, citizen engagements through public participations, introduction of the cashless payment mode, restructuring of the human resource, internal engagements with County Departments and remarkably citizen confidence in the county leadership.

The prudent use of county resources, accountability and transparency has ensured that every tax collected is accounted for.

The growth in own source revenue is due to increment in tax base whereby the government has ensured that instead of increasing tax to the few people, the reach extends to those who has previously been evading.
