H.E Governor Joshua Irungu EGH recently led the Department of Agriculture Livestock and Fisheries, and a team from the NCPB in inspecting various facilities that will act as distribution points for fertilizer in Laikipia West.
This is a fulfilment to the Governor's earlier promise to farmers that he would ensure that the fertilizer is close to even the small scale farmers who would be disadvantaged by the long distance from their farms to the NCPB stores.
The facilities will include the Kinamba Grain store ,Mutanga grain store,Sipili cereals stores , Rumuruti and Rumuruti County headquarters.
Through the NCPB the fertilizer will be delivered in these distribution points starting from next week Monday.
The Nyahururu depot received 2400 bags which are being issued to farmers. Approximately 10,000 bags are expected next week.
Nanyuki depot will be issued with the subsidized fertilizer next week. The process of inspecting the distribution stores in Laikipia East and Laikipia North will start today Friday.
The NCPB team was led by the Regional Manager Ms. Emily Kikwai as she inspected the status of various grain stores in Laikipia West.
