Thoughtful Partnerships Continue To Bear Fruit In Laikipia
Updated on: Jul 27, 2023
County Government of Laikipia continues to leverage on partnerships following a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the Governor Joshua Irungu, EGH and Habitat for Humanity in November 2022.
The partnership is broad-based and multi-sectoral. First and foremost, it enables the poorest of the poor access housing, which is the core mission of the Habitat for Humanity. But there is more.
The partnership further provides health, livelihood and education support to these communities. With LG Electronics also seeing the impact of the partnership to the Community and joining us in these initiative, seven (7) health facilities, and counting, now have LG appliances (laundry machines, refrigerators and microwaves for maternity wards). The health facilities that have benefited so far include: Ol Moran and Rumuruti last year, and Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital - NTRH - LHS Nanyuki, Ndindika Subcounty Hospital, Lamuria Sub County Hospital, Naibor Dispensary and Mukima Dispensary today.
In Education, Habitat for Humanity with support from LG and the Community Chest of Korea have transformed Naibor Primary School with classrooms and Sanitation facilities for the pupils. Computer centres will be established in tens of locations within the next year
In water, Habitat for Humanity with support from Wolfgang Durr Germany have drilled and equipped a community borehole.
Truly, we are in the era of integrated human development where health remains core enabler.
