HE. Governor Joshua Irungu Kicks Off Bursary Disbursement At Githiga Ward.

February 5, 2023: H.E Governor Joshua Irungu EGH kicked off the bursary disbursement exercise in Githiga Award, an exercise scheduled for countywide, in all Laikipia County Wards.
This years bursary kitty marks the largest ever bursary to have been allocated by County Government of Laikipia, reiterating the County Governments commitment to education and poverty alleviation through education, in Laikipia.
Last years bursary kitty was at 50 million, this year going up to 75 million, a whopping 25 million increase. The biggest chunk of these funds are meant to benefit high-going students to ensure 100 percent transition from primary to secondary level.
But we also want to ensure that our children equally proceed to tertiary level. These funds also will have college scholarships and Vocational Training Centres scholarships to instil technical skills to our people who will, in return, create jobs in our County, the Governor said.
At Githiga ward where the Governor kicked off the exercise, the ward allocation was capped at 4,386,840, other wards are posed to get their disbursement allocations in course of the week.
County Department of Education, Youth, Sports, Culture, Gender and Social Services is spearheading the exercise in support of other County Department heads.
Present was: Deputy Governor HE. Reuben Kamuri, Laikipia County Majority Leader John Hon. Gichuki, Githiga ward MCA Hon. Joseph Gitahi, Ag CECM Education MR. Stephen Kisorio, CO Education Mr. John Gichuki, CO Finance and County Treasury Mr. Daniel Ngumi, CO Livestock and Fisheries Ms. Mary Gichuru among other Government officials.
