Safaricom Foundation High Level Executives Visits Laikipia Health Service

On October 3, 2024, Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital (NTRH) has high level visit; Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, and Safaricom Foundation senior executives.
The Safaricom team was a need assessment tour of the Laikipia Health Service on matters maternal healthcare and child welfare.
The team was welcomed by Deputy Governor H.E Reuben Kamuri alongside, Health CECM Albert Taiti, Health CO, Dr Timothy Panga, NTRH CEO Dr Sammy Kilonzo, and other county health officials.
NTRHs CEO Dr Kilonzo extensively presented on Laikipia Health Services capacities and prevailing gaps that aligns with Safaricom Foundations community support program.
The main need for the County that was discussed is a modern and expanded capacity in the New Born Unit (NBU) that is fully equipped to meet the current workload and complexity of care to improve new-born survival.
Equipping of the maternity unit also featured, together with ambulance system support, all aimed at addressing all the three delays that avert maternal mortality.
The Safaricom Foundation team also used the visit opportunity to present mama kits to all the new mothers in the unit to support their care and that of their newborns.
The DG appreciated the Safaricom team led by Mr. Ndegwa, the Safaricom CEO, for considering Laikipia County in their strategic investment plan for community empowerment program reiterating the Governments plan of sourcing and welcoming development partners who can complement its CIDP implementation.
