Key note address on addressing land issues in Laikipia.
1.Recovery of Public Assets
The county have commenced the recovery of public assets, particularly land and property. Both levels of government are determined to take back stolen, grabbed public land. In this regard, Old, and now new Nanyuki open air market is open for business! A total of 720 land parcels have been identified for recovery, and notices published on 570 parcels while we do so soon for the remaining ones. The NLC committee will soon come down to make public enquiries on these assets.
2. Titling Rapid Results Initiative
The county is on course to issue 40,000 titles over the next 5 months under the Titling Rapid Results Initiative.
These will be in Likii, Mowarak, Kandutura, Kahari, Majengo, Lamuria, Luoniek, African Location, Doldol among other market centres. A total of 13,100 title deeds will be issued to the following land buying companies; Laikipia West Farmers (9,500), Laikipia East Farmers (200), Wiyumiririe Co-operative (350),Laikipia Mifugo Co-operativeSociety Ltd (3,000), Mbugiongai Limited (300), Kieni East Farmers (650), Thome Farmers Company (500),Othaya, Mahiga, Chinga (OMC) Company Limited (500), Muruku Farmers Company (200)and Gatarakwa Farmers Company (600).
