Kariunga Dam
Updated on: Jun 20, 2019
The effort in rainwater and storm water storage strategy coming to fruition and a project responding to a felt need by citizens. In March, H.E. Governor Ndiritu Muriithi inspected the progress of the construction of the Kariunga dam.
The dam is full and the people of Kariunga, Jua Kali, Naibor and Ereri can access this dam for their livestock and also for small scale irrigation.
Citizens were traveling long distances to access water. In subsequent public participation exercises, the dam was prioritised for rehabilitation.
The step is to build a composite Filtration Unit (CFU) so the citizens of Jua Kali and surrounding areas can access clean treated water as outlined in CIDP and Governor Ndiritu Muriithi Manifesto.
