Services at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital are at optimal level with more doctors joining in to fill the gaps of the 61who were dismissed three weeks ago for boycotting work.
On Thursday, five new babies were delivered at the hospital. The facility registered a total of 12 admissions, seven (7) discharges and 571 outpatients.
Among the outpatients on Friday, was laikipia deputy governor John Mwaniki.
I went to seek medical attention at Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital. The doctors present were able to attend to me, after having gone through the NHIF verification process. I was treated and the two prescribed drugs were available, he said.
He took the advantage of being at the facility to review the service delivery.
Our doctors have continued to resume work with a total of 14 doctors and 5 pharmacists back, 3 more who were previously on training have rejoined and 6 have volunteered to join next week as they await formal posting. Of the 22 specialists, 5 are continuing with their work, with 2 resuming work today (Friday), Mr Mwaniki said.
Additional specialists will be hired, through the ongoing process by the County Public Service Board.
He appealed to Laikipia citizens not to be misled that no services are being offered. The DG said the government was committed to the wellbeing of the health workers and the great people of Laikipia.
