Laikipia Citizens Come Out To Discuss Finance Bill 2019/2020

Nanyuki, Monday 23th September 2019..Citizens came out in large numbers to make their contributions during the public participation meeting for the Finance Bill 2019/2020 held across the county.
During meetings which kicked off in Thingithu, Nanyuki, Tigithi and Ngobit wards, citizens demonstrated faith in the government for using the money they pay as taxes well.
At Kalalu market the speakers even suggested additional avenues that the county government could use to shore up its revenues.
For instance they urged the government to install a cess collection point for tonnes of murram excavated from the ward and ferried away in trucks. They also urged the government lower the number of alcohol outlets in the area.
Citizens also asked the County Revenue Board to collect fees from boda boda operators, sub-division of land and in the tourism industry.
