COUNTY SWEARS IN COUNTY SECRETARY
Mr. Samuel Karanja Njora was today sworn in as the County Secretary of County Government of Laikipia at a solemn ceremony held at the Governors office. Mr. Njora has been in acting capacity since his appointment in August 2017.
The oath of office was administered and presided over by the Nanyuki Resident Magistrate Hon. Vincent Masivo and the County Attorney Mr. Alexander Muchemi in a ceremony witnessed by H.E Governor Ndiritu Muriithi and Deputy Governor H.E John Mwaniki, the County Assembly Speaker Hon Waigwa Bilha, Clerk of the County Assembly Mr. Jasper Mutwiri, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) , County Commissioner Mr. Daniel Nyameti and senior county and national government officials.
In his remarks, the Governor applauded the County Secretary and emphasized the crucial role such a swearing in ceremony plays in affirming a public servants commitment to the service to the citizens. We expect that all civil servants adopt a professional approach when conducting government business, he said.
He urged the staff present to play an active role in project implementation and communicating with the public before, during and after project implementation thereby enhancing transparency, accountability and integrity in the county operations.
The Deputy Governor, who was once the County Secretary of the county, expressed his confidence in Mr. Njoras administrative and professional capabilities and emphasized that the office of the county secretary is at the center of all county government operations.
On his part, the Speaker of the County Assembly, Hon. Patrick Waigwa congratulated Mr. Njora and applauded the Governor for his appointment noting that his background and professionalism is of immense benefit in county administration. He also emphasized the separation of powers as the strength of the governance project and highlighted the role of the county assembly as an oversight and regulatory body tasked with representing citizens and ensuring value in progress and realization of county development projects.
