Collaboration And Partnership Between County Government Of Laikipia And Tayari
Tayari means getting children ready for school. It is an ECDE model which is being piloted in four counties i.e Laikipia, Uasin Gishu, Nairobi and Siaya. It is a ministry of Education programme being implemented in partnership with the county government , RTI [Reaserch triangle institute ] CIFF [Child investment fund foundation].The following are the objectives of Tayari
1; Support the Government to develop tested , cost-effective , affordable ,and scalable model of ECDE.
2;Support the government to provide quality ECDE across four selected counties.
3; To enable globle uptake of tested ECDE model based on kenya’s pilot experience.
In the Tayari programme children are provide with work books for language and mathematical activities while teachers are given teachers guides for the two activity areas and techers are also adequately trained to implement the model.
Teachers receive a lot of support through classroom observation to ensure quality and standards of the programme.
It is a three year pilot programme which started in February 2015 and ending in 2019, and has been evaluated by an external evaluator APHRC for possible scaling up in the whole country.
