Progress Of The Laikipia County Economic Stimulus Fund

The process to operationalize the Laikipia County Economic Stimulus Fund to support Laikipia businesses is actively in progress. Several financial institutions have expressed their interest to participate in this programme.
In the latest step, the Committee on Delegated County Legislation of the County Assembly has considered the Laikipia County Business Stimulus Fund Regulations 2020 which is expected to regulate the administration of the fund, the relationship between different stakeholders, among other issues.
In its considerations, the committee has made recommendations on six areas of improvement.
The County Government is working to incorporate these recommendations immediately and will have the revised regulations taken back to the County Assembly when it resumes next week for consideration.
As soon as the County Assembly concludes with the regulations, the funds will be available for disbursement as this had already been appropriated for them in the budget.
We thank the County Assembly for the support thus far and the renewed enthusiasm they have demonstrated in support of this programme.
