Laikipia Leads The Country In NHIF Coverage.

Laikipia continues to be the first (number 1) County in Kenya in NHIF coverage, at 43%.
This is despite a registration rate of over 60%. That remains the unhappy side of our story. Retention has been poor over the last few years. The numbers have increased when one element of the UHC cube, access to quality services, drastically improved in the last one year.
Our collective job as government and citizenry is now clearly cut out. To ensure that all those who registered in the past do not default on their cover (a gap of at least 17%).
Even more importantly, the remaining 40% (about 60,000 households) that probably were never covered by any insurance, need to join the fold. With that, we will have Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Laikipia.
That is the mission of the County Government of Laikipia in partnership with The Ministry of Health of the national government. The most desirable vehicle for UHC by both levels of the government is the soon to be launched NHIF KENYA regulations.
We appreciate Laikipians for showing that it is possible for our County to be the first past the post for UHC (100%) in Kenya.
