State House Break Through For Kirimon & NYS Bounderies And Squatter Settlement.

H.E Governor Joshua Irungu, EGH this morning hailed a historic agreement achieved between County Government of Laikipia and National Youth Service (NYS) over Kirimon Game Reserve and Marmar NYS Ranch to make way for tourism enterprise development.
The two neighbor each other but County Government of Laikipia and NYS that occupies Mar Mar Ranch that is owned by Ministry Agriculture and Livestock development have reached agreement on squatter settlement to make way for seeing up conservation management structures .
A meeting held at State House on Tuesday between H.E President William Samoei Ruto, HE Governor Joshua Irungu EGH, CS Tourism and Wildlife, Dr. Alfred Mutua, and Samburu Governor, HE Jonathan Lelelit resolved boundaries between
the 43,000 acre Kirimon and Marmar NYS should be demarcated to allow county government to operationalize wildlife conservation and tourism activities .
The State House caucus was in follow up from a request made by Governor Irungu last Friday at Rumuruti town where the President had a public rally after launching a 100k electric fence at Lariak forest.
Among other key agreements reached with H.E President Ruto include settlement of documented squatters who have lived on Kirimon Reserve for many years on a portion of the Mar Mar NYS ranch to secure community interests as key stakeholders.
The County Government of Laikipia is keen on speedy operationalization of the Kirimon Game Reserve for wildlife and nature conservation to make it attractive for investors in tourism enterprises.
An operational reserve also creates an additional 43,000 acres of safe haven for wildlife species threatened by loss of habitat in the Mt Kenya-Samburu ecosystem.
The head of state also directed relevant departments led by Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, to move with speed to determine and demarcate ownership rights at Eland Downs in Segera to address insecurity and overgrazing concerns arising from a free-for-all situation obtaining currently.
The head of state also granted a petition by P&D settlement residents for waiver of accrued statutory levies to enable owners to expedite processing of ownership documents.
Among others present at the State House meeting included PS Silvia Museiya, CS Koinange Wahome, Samburu CECM for land and County Attorney among others.
