The growth of Own Source Revenue(OSR) has transformed various key development projects in the county. These include the growth of businesses in the county due to a conducive business environment, upgrading and rebranding of Laikipia Health Service, and Smart Town initiatives in Nanyuki, Nyahururu, Rumuruti, Oljabet, Kinamba, ongoing Karuga, and Doldol. The government plans to develop 22 smart towns before 2027.
Other development projects are accelerated infrastructure and roads program, water for production, investments, and innovation and enterprise development.
Notably, an improved credit rating has contributed immensely to the ability to engage with new resource mobilization avenues with the Infrastructure Bond being a notable pioneer to success.
The Board will continue to offer excellent services to all Laikipia citizens.
In the next five years, the devolved unit plans to expand the Economic Stimulus Program(ESP) to Ksh. 20 billion shillings. This will increase the number of businesses in the county as well as help in expanding the existing ones.
The role of the government is to create an enabling environment to facilitate business growth and ultimately lead to the economic well-being of the citizens.
