NYAHUWASCO COMMENDED FOR REDUCING ON THEIR NON REVENUE WATER

Governor Joshua Irungu has commended Nyahururu Water and Sanitation Company for significantly reducing their non- revenue Water. Both Rumururuti and Igwamiti schemes recorded a reduction of NRW from 35% to 27%.
Non-Revenue Water is the water produced by a water utility that is lost due to such issues like leakages and does not earn any revenue for the organisation.
The Governor made this announcement this morning when he joined NYAHUWASCO management and staff in the official opening and dedication of their new offices in Nyahururu town. The new offices are located near the Nyahururu Law Courts.
This reduction is consistent with the priority for the water sector in Kenya, the National Water Services Strategy goal is to reduce NRW to under 30%. It is also a positive indicator towards compliance with the Vision 2030 goal which is to reduce this to under 25%.
NYAHUWASCO has been operating from rented premises since 2002.
The new office block allows company to save on rent and thus redirect the money to improve on service delivery.
The new facility affords spacious and flexible working space for staff and service seekers in addition to ample parking space in contrast to the previous premises located a long a busy front street.
The Governor has challenged the company to continuously improve on their service delivery as they focus on connecting more people to get water, ameliorate their efficiency and customer care service.
The Governor was accompanied by the County Secretary Mr. Koinange Wahome, CECM Water and Natural resources Ms. Leah Njeri, CECM Finance Mr. Samuel Gachigi, CECM Health Mr.Albert Taiti among other County Government officials.
