Pastor Dorcas Rigathi Foundation Health Soccer Tournament In Laikipia

Spouse to Deputy President, Her Excellency Pastor Dorcas Rigathi concluded her four-day working tour of Laikipia county when she presided over a football tournament at the Nanyuki stadium to celebrate Boy Child Empowerment initiatives in Laikipia.
She was accompanied by her host, H.E Governor Joshua Irungu EGH, who commended her love, passion and commitment she has invested in the promotion of dignity and empowerment of the boy child.
The Tournament was the climax of a series of county -wide events that kicked off with a interdenominational Prayer Summit in Rumuruti town on Tuesday hosted by the Association of Pentecostal and Evangelical Churches (APEC) Laikipia chapter.
The Tournament will have 32 teams drawn from across the county.
The best players shall form the Laikipia United Team that shall compete and represent the county in different parts of Kenya under the Dorcas Rigathi Foundation (DRF) Health Soccer Tournament against addictions, said Pastor Dorcas.
The churches and ministries represented pledged solidarity with the four initiatives championed by Dr. Dorcas centered on Empowerment of the Boy Child, PWDs, Widows and Families.
Sports tournaments are aimed at stimulating positive engagements to keep the youth away from substance abuse, and create opportunities for direct interaction with support systems and linkages with caregivers to assist those affected to begin to make a turn around.
Today's tournament saw two matches played at the Nanyuki Stadium. Depatas FC (Segera ward) beat Karuga FC (Igwamiti ward) 4:0 and Zion FC (Thingithu ward) beat Kaa Sober (Nanyuki Ward) FC 1:0.
The tournament is expected will lead to the formation of Laikipia United team representing the county in the Health Soccer Boychild empowerment program competitions in the pipeline.
"I am glad t see the Health Soccer Boychild empowerment program will impact lives and foster family values and stabilizer the family unit as boys and men are restored to resume their place in the family and society " said HE Governor Joshua Irungu.
Present were Her Excellency Laikipia First Lady Mrs. Grace Wakahora, Deputy Governor H.E Reuben Kamuri, County MP Hon. Jane Kagiri, Ag Laikipia CECM Sports Mr. Stephen Kisorio, Chief Officer Sports Ms. Jecinta Koree, APECK Chair-Laikipia Rev. George Munene, DCC Laikipia East Mr Patrick Muli, among others.
