Land Titling In Laikipia County

Following the presidential directive last year to the ministry of lands to solve the land titling in Laikipia County, the Cabinet Secretary, ministry of Lands and Physical planning Madam Farida Karoney held a detailed lengthy meeting today with Laikipia County leadership that was led by H.E Governor Ndiritu Muriithi and Deputy Governor John Mwaniki.
The CS Lands and County leadership discussion was centered on titling of land in the county, reclaiming grabbed public lands and exploring ways in which land ministry at National level can assist our County government in land planning especially in implementation of flagship project - smart towns.
Our MCAs represented grievances of their constituents and they expressed confidence that intervention of County and National government will yield and solve land question conclusively.
The Governor and his Deputy agreed that County needs capacity building in land registry, digitization of land records and fight land fraudsters. To that end, the question of land buying companies was among the key items discussed; how the public will be assisted in having their titles, and in future, shielding them from unscrupulous land buying companies.
Ms. Karoney was accompanied by her Principal Secretary Dr. Nicholas Muraguri, Chief Administrative Secretary Gideon Mung'aro, Laikipia County Commissioner Onesmus Kyatha among other official from the Land ministry and National Land Commission.
The County leadership was led by Governor Ndiritu Muriithi, Deputy Governor John Mwaniki, County Assembly Speaker Hon. Patrick Waigwa, Laikipia North Member of Parliament Sarah Lekorere, all MCAs, CEC infrustrcuture and land Mr Joseph Njalis Shuel; his Chief officer Mr. Kenneth Karanja among other County officials
This being the second day of the CS and her delegation's visit to this County, will see them meet up with residents of Likii and Majengo areas in an exercise that shall facilitate the issuing of over 30,000 titles.
