Naibor, Mukima CHVs Trained On First Aid And Childhood Illnesses
Updated on: Sep 24, 2019
The Department of Health through its Community Health Strategy Unit with support from a partner (410 Bridge) has successfully completed a training of Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) attached to Naibor and Mukima Dispensaries on First Aid and Integrated Childhood Case Management (ICCM).
This is in line with the newly inaugurated Universal Health Coverage policy that seeks to double investments in Preventive and Promotive Health care services. One of the areas earmarked for expansion and strengthening is the Community Health System where our front line health care workers the CHVs and Public Health Officers offer Basic Health Care services including Health Education. The CHVs are now empowered to recognize Childhood illnesses, treat simple cases, give First Aid treatment to the emergency cases at household level, and refer what they cannot handle to the Link Health Facilities.
On completion of the ten (10) days training, the group of twenty five (25) CHVs were feted in a colourful graduation ceremony attended by the area MCA, Hon.Chalubo.
We take this opportunity to congratulate them as they move back to the villages to continue serving mwananchi at the households.
